Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Patient Care Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in the OBGYN Specialty Clinic at the Swedish Campus in Edmonds, WA.

The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for acting as a patient advocate to assure the patient's access to health care during their entry into and through the services of the clinic.

In this position you will:

  • Act as contact for clinic providers, patient and family, referring physicians, outside agencies, outside staff and general public by providing information regarding the clinic's services

  • Act as liaison between the patient and the various clinic areas and ancillary services to coordinate activities involved in pre-operative planning and preparation or planned hospitalization

  • Coordinate pre-admission tests, pre-surgery appointments/tests, and procedures as delegated by the provider or nurse

  • Ensure a complete medical record is present at the time of patient visit, admission, and/or procedure

  • Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner under the direction of the clinic team

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • 1 year experience in medical/healthcare setting or 2 years in a customer service role required

  • Knowledge of billing, coding and/or medical terminology

  • Prior experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment, including handling confidential data with discretion

  • Demonstrated PC skills. i.e. proficient with MS office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

  • Knowledge of insurance authorization process

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • BA/BS Health Related field

  • Nursing or Medical Assistant Certification

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience

We are hiring RN Fellows for our Intensive Care Unit at Swedish First Hill. The Fellow RN program provides experienced acute care nurses with education and training (typically 12-24 weeks) in specialty areas that match their interests and career goals. The next cohort starts April 1, 2019 Our Fellow RN training program provides participants with: * The opportunity to experience the program in a setting that provides a consistent and structured experience. * Integrated classroom and clinical experiences under the guidance and support of Preceptors, Clinical Educators and Professional Development Specialists. Clinical experience is under the direct one on one supervision of a Preceptor. * Simulated Clinical Experience with high fidelity mannequins, which offers the opportunity to practice in a safe and educationally structured environment. * Numerous professional development opportunities both at the individual level as well as opportunities to participate in shared leadership, our Nursing Quality leadership group, among others.   Registered Nurses at Swedish are responsible for providing nursing care adapted to individual patient needs based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. He or she is also responsible for delegation and supervision of personnel, as states above, that participate in the provision of care to ensure that patient needs and expected outcomes are met.   In this position you will:   * Collect pertinent assessment data including present condition, past history, physical, spiritual and psychosocial information * Develop, review and revise an individualized care plan * Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and coworkers * Utilize the nursing process to prepare for discharge/transfer, beginning with admission and continuing throughout hospitalization Application Process * Applications are screened by the Human Resources Department. Applicants that successfully meet the requirements of the position will be contacted for a phone interview with the Nurse Recruiter. Additional interviews will be conducted with the hiring manager and peer interview team for those applicants who are successful in the HR screening process. Important information regarding the Fellow RN Program: * The Fellow RN program is an intensive training program with strict schedules. Time off or scheduling requests during orientation will not be accommodated. * Nurses in the training program are required to sign a 2 year/$5000 agreement. Participants agree to remain employed as a RN at Swedish for a period of at least 2 years after completion of the Fellow RN program or are required to pay a sum of $5000. (Prorated to the time spent employed by Swedish.) Required qualifications for this position include: * All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher within 6 years of hire * A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN * Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis at each facility by the most senior administrative nursing leader in consultation with the Human Resources leader * Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire * Current Washington RN License * Current BLS Certification * 12 months of nursing experience but new to specialty of hire * Must complete the Swedish "Fellow RN" training program Preferred qualifications for this position include: * Bachelor's degree in nursing * National Certification in area of specialty Swedish is committed to being the best place to receive care, and also the best place to work.
