Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.
1.Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to: monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
2.Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
3.Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
4.Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly.
5.Assist with transporting patients, as needed.
Education: Successful completion of patient care training or 6 months patient care experience. EKG and phlebotomy competencies required within 6 months of hire date.
Licensure, Certification and Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
Complexity of Work: This role requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, a high degree of customer service and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. Must be able to work with minimal direction, able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action as required.
Required Work Experience: 6 months patient care experience required if no prior completion of patient care training
