The nursing student tech is enrolled in an accredited, nursing program, and has successfully completed fundamentals and a minimum of 1 clinical assignments. The Nursing student is assigned to a Registered Nurse to provide patient care in a structured learning environment. The ultimate responsibility for patient care is the responsibility of the Registered Nurse.
The Nursing student will be able to perform clinical nursing skills (see competency list) and assist with the nursing process and the patient's plan of care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Students will NOT administer any medications, initiate or administer any IV or arterial therapy, hang blood or blood components, or transcribe physician orders.
Requires intense attention and concentration. Basic computer skills which may be obtained thru on the job training.
Good visual, verbal and hearing skills and analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types and ages is necessary; ability to deal with diverse cultural backgrounds (i.e., Southeast Asia, Greek, Hispanic).
Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing Program. Nursing student must have completed basic medical/surgical training or fundamentals, and is actively attending or has completed 1 clinical rotation.
Prefer completion of 2 clinical rotations.
