Patient Care Assistant



Ensuring the delivery of the highest quality of patient care, you will assist staff nurses in providing comprehensive attention to patients and families, while working in an environment that commands clinical excellence every day. Your duties will include providing input for patient care plans, reviewing patient status, and assisting in obtaining patient data. Other responsibilities will entail monitoring changes in patient conditions, supporting admission and discharge processes, and making patients and families feel at home.


The qualified candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, a BLS and at least one year of experience as a nursing attendant, EMT, or previous member of armed medical corps. Superior communication and customer service skills required as well as proficiency in data management as it relates to entering and retrieving patient information within the Epic application software.

Participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.</p><p>Job Responsibility</p><ul><li><p>Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.</p></li><li><p>Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.</p></li><li><p>Performs daily patient rounds.</p></li><li><p>Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.</p></li><li><p>Interprets laboratory and test results.</p></li><li><p>Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.</p></li><li><p>Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and any referrals on patient charts.</p></li><li><p>Informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructions.</p></li><li><p>Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
