The role of the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is to assist with care to the patient under the direction of the RN, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and healing environment.
It is expected that the PCA will act as a member of the health care team to ensure exceptional guest services, communicate patient concerns and observations, and ensure the patient's right to privacy and dignity. The PCA will demonstrate ethical and legal behaviors within their identified scope of practice. Duties will be performed as assigned by the Primary Care Nurse, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Director.
Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Knowledge and Skills:
Speaks and reads English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Interpersonal skills to effectively work with peers and patients. Exemplary customer service skills in person, answering telephones and call lights.
Understands basic documentation via EMR.
Ability to use equipment appropriate for role and patient care. Basic personal computer skills (i.e. MS Windows, MS Office, internet, timekeeping, e-mail). Required Education and Experience:
Eligibility to obtain licensure (or proof of training) for Certified Nurse Assistant Certification in the State of California. Or proof of satisfactory completion of Fundamentals of Nursing for RN or LVN. Or a minimum of 6 months experienced as a Certified Nurse Assistant in area of specialty or an appropriate equivalent preferred.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration: CNA--Certified Nursing Assistant preferred, Current BLS for Health Care Providers (American Heart Association) required.
