Part-Time Days

The Patient Care Assistant will assist the Nurse in the delivery of patient care and perform routine unit tasks as assigned by the Nursing Director or his / her designee. The Patient Care Assistant shall consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior in interacting with patients and families.

Will communicate observations and concerns to the staff nurse in a timely manner and carry out the interventions deemed appropriate by the nurse in the plan of care. Maintains the standards of patient care consistent with the hospital mission and philosophy and objectives of family centered care at Shriners Hospital.

Patient Care:

Follows the plan of care by assisting the Registered Nurse in meeting the physical needs of the patients.

Maintain Physical Environment:

Works to maintain a safe, clean, orderly and effective patient environment.


Consistently interrelates with patients, families, co-workers and other departmental personnel to promote cooperation and efficiency in meeting the health care needs of patients.

Emotional Support:

Contributes to the creation of an environment which provides emotional, social and developmental support to patients and their families.

Job Requirements

High School Diploma/GED Required.

Three to Six Months related experience in a hospital setting required.

Pediatric experience preferred.

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Required.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required.
