SUMMARY:

Manages and coordinates activities of staff responsible for Billing Office functions. Monitors work-flow for day-to-day operations such as billing, account follow-up and payment posting. Responsible for assigning tasks, training, staff productivity, and compliance issues. Manages special projects as needed. Acts as a liaison between the billing office and all other departments within the facility in conjunction with the PFS Director to provide successful billing outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manages workflows for successful Hospital and Provider billing and follow-up

  • Ensures timely and accurate billing and collection for services rendered.

  • Staff training and education; including hiring, evaluations and discipline, under the guidance of the PFS Director

  • Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, under the guidance of the PFS Director

  • Monthly reporting as needed

  • Review and approve refunds and adjustments on a monthly basis

  • Support of software implementation and updates as needed

  • Review, approve and submit Kronos data. Review and approve employee time off requests as needed

  • Development of departmental budget, under the guidance of the PFS Director

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, CICP, HMO's and third party payers billing and reimbursement guidelines

  • Report to the PFS Director any hospital billing opportunities/successes

  • Goal setting and quality standards for billing staff, under the guidance of the PFS Director

  • Participate in committees as assigned

  • Perform in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency standards

  • Perform in accordance with EPH vision, mission and goals

  • All other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school level or equivalent

  • 3 years healthcare billing experience

  • Excellent people and organizational skills a must; Computer literate in Windows and Microsoft Office; Knowledge of Epic would be a bonus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions and has protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

  • The worker is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and has no effective protection from weather.

  • Must have flexibility in scheduling (weekends, days, evenings, nights).

  • Must be able to sustain normal medical center exposure to bacteria, viruses and fungi.

PAY DETAILS:

$28.20 - $38.35 per hour
