JOB SUMMARY The Patient Accounts Coordinator, under the direction of the Patient Accounts Manager, is responsible to help monitor the daily functions and activities for the Patient Accounts Department. The Patient Accounts Coordinator is responsible for identifying and analyzing systematic errors to ensure correct, timely receipt of information to improve account resolution and payment turnaround. This person reviews and processes bad debt files for transmission to the vendor. Responsible for making recommendations for improvements regarding system and process operations for Business Services. This position works closely with Patient Billing Management, System Analyst and Team Leads to understand what processes and system changes will impact the revenue cycle. Assists in coordination, testing, and implementation of system upgrades and vendor software. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Bachelor#s Degree in Business/Healthcare/Science and one (1) year health care experience including experience with health care billing and third party payor requirements# OR# Associate Degree in Business/Healthcare/Science and two (2) years health care experience including experience with in health care billing and third party payor requirements# OR# high school graduate or equivalent and five (5) years relevant experience including experience with health care billing and third party payor requirements Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: N/A Experience: Meditech or other hospital software system regarding billing or registration. Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent oral and written communication skills; professionally motivated, ability to work independently, critical thinking and organizational skills. Computer skills. Strong problem solving skills and a high level of knowledge of Payors and Billing rules. Strong knowledge of systems and their functionality desired. # READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures. SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10#s and 100#s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
