POSITION: Patient Account Specialist

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE (80 hrs/pay period)

WORK SCHEDULE: Days

JOB SUMMARY:

The Patient Account Specialist is responsible for assuring that all charges and necessary information is billed on patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner to payers. Serves as Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital's liaison with payers and patients regarding accounts within the organization. Will perform any and all other duties necessary for the department to function.

JOB DUTIES:
1.Process primary, secondary and tertiary insurance claims accurately and timely for prompt payments of patient accounts.
2.Adequately resolves all correspondence received, addressing problems with charges or payments in a timely and effective manner.
3.Assure that all patient and billing information is accurate and up to date in the organization's computer systems.
4.Responsible for monitoring the accounts receivable aging reports and other tools to address those accounts that are not paid in a timely fashion.
5.Monitor and resolve all correspondence received, addressing problems with charges or payments in a timely and effective manner.
6.Monitor remittance advice, denials and rejections to address and resolve in a timely manner.
7.Collaborate timely with the patient, internal team members and other departments as necessary to resolve billing issues.
8.Maintains knowledge and understanding of billing system(s) rules, processes and edits.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Two plus years of recent hospital and/or clinic billing or equivalent experience required.
2.Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
3.Demonstrated ability to work professionally as a team and with others.
4.Basic computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office tools.
5.Ability to work within a team environment as well as be self-directed/independent with minimal supervision.
6.Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
7.Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities to assist providers and may include performing a variety of diagnostic lab procedures according to established policies and procedures. JOB DUTIES: 1. Implements patient care interventions that are delegated, ordered or prescribed by a licensed health care provider. 2. Performs waived laboratory tests. 3. Collects blood and urine specimens for patients. 4. Focus on patient care through the provision of safe /effective care, patient advocacy, and assistance with patient evaluation to interventions and collaboration and communication with health care team members. 5. Provides health care information to patients and reviews education materials. 6. Provides input for policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Maintains current CMA certification. 2. One year previous experience performing waived laboratory tests and collecting blood and urine specimens preferred. 3. Experience in an ambulatory health care setting is preferred. 4. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships. 5. BLS certification to be completed within two months of employment. 6. Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values. 7. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
