Performs a variety of duties to facilitate the providing of services and ultimately the payment of the hospital bill. Duties include pre-registration of scheduled services, registration of private referral patients, direct and urgent admissions. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

    1. Completes registration of all services, obtaining the necessary insurance verification and certification for services. Interviews patient to advise of any co-pays/deductible due.

  • 1.1 Performs all types of registration functions within the established time frames and following established department procedures 80-85% of the time as observed by sampling of daily reports and random review of the files by supervisor.

    1. Maintains appropriate patient/billing records as mandated by department policy.

  • 2.1 Documents account notes on all assigned accounts of all information obtained from patient, guarantor, third party payor and/or physician's office as evidenced by random supervisory review of completed cases.

    1. Reviews/Enters patient charges. Investigates inquiries on charges

  • 3.1 Reviews/enters patient charges as per the departmental policy. Investigates any charging issue as instructed by Hospital personnel.

    1. Performs all Patient Account Representative functions as required or directed.

  • 4.1 Reads and initials all new policies, procedures and updates within one week of receipt 90-95% of the time as observed by supervisor.

    1. Coordinates daily Check-in/registration functions

  • 5.1 Demonstrates the ability to organize the day's work load 90-95% of the time as observed by supervisor.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school graduate

EXPERIENCE

2 years insurance experience, computer experience

SPECIAL SKILLS

Customer Service Skills

PHYSICAL DEMAND

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
