Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attends work on a regular and predictable basis

  • Contacts payers for claims status, followup denials, or partial payments

  • Obtains payer requirements for timely adjudication of claims

  • Files claims with appropriate documentation attached

  • Pursues, maintains, and communicates payer coverage/guideline changes/updates

  • Processes all incoming and outgoing correspondence as assigned

  • Verifies, adjusts, and updates Accounts Receivable (A/R) according to correspondence received from insurance company

  • Helps facilitate interoffice communication on error and denial trends

  • Initiates the review/appeals process on disputed claims

  • Researches credit balances and initiates refunds as required

  • Documents all activity in customer's computer account

  • Answers Accounts Receivable phone inquiries

  • Works assigned RBCO reports

  • Available to assist other PACs with questions or collection needs

  • Acts as liaison between staff and management

  • Performs other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

  • Past performance shows solid evidence of insurance qualifications and guidelines

  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette and adequate oral and written communication skills

  • Shows effective multitasking skills

  • Positive and cooperative attitude in working and communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of medical field preferred

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

VIEW JOBS 10/16/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-14T00:00 Deliverables/Principal Results Expected: * Explain and sign admission paperwork, process and copy driver's license/insurance information. * Contact Probation/Parole if needed for client and assist in getting letter for admission/discharge- keep clinical log on same. * Assist with getting letter to employer when requested from client to keep in clinical log. * Give family surveys to families when needed. * Facilitate admission process by communicating with nursing when client is ready for them. * UR note on all Medicaid / FFS clients and communicate all information to appropriate staff. * Enter admission information into NJSAMS * Gather information for and complete precertification for all managed care clients. * Admission/continued stay/discharge on all clients ASAM * Conduct level of care assessments on all clients. * Apply for medical assistance SCA clients. * Coordinate client with appropriate person to complete medical assistance process via phone, receive and sign papers for MA and fax back. * Take photos of each client, make five copies, write name and MR number and distribute. * Communicate with nursing regarding discharge information. * Complete prescreens by phone and in person while entering date in the electronic clinical record, scheduling callers for appointments or referral to appropriate services. * Complete required trainings and mandatory training hours. * Other duties as assigned. Technical Competencies: Maintain client confidentiality providing a safe and therapeutic treatment environment. Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of composition of medical records. Knowledge of data entry (primarily Excel) and mathematics. Knowledge of pre-certification process and PCPC. Knowledge of Confidentiality laws and private care managers and county referral sources. Demonstrates the use of: Fax, PC knowledge, Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word), shredder and copier. Strong knowledge of PCPC and ASAM criteria. Knowledge of CARF, DDAP, RTFA, County regulations. Ability to problem solve by gathering and analyzing information, working well in an individual/group problem solving situation and showing initiative in problem solving.
