The Patient Access Representative performs all tasks related to pre-registration and registration of inpatients and outpatients in an efficient, accurate and professional manner to ensure that the patient, physician and hospital needs are met.
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Two years previous work-related experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and previous medical billing, registration and collection experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff, patients/guarantors, insurance companies, physicians and all others.
Ability to follow directions as outlined and comprehends complex issues. Strong computer skills to include typing a minimum of 40 wpm. Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment at times of need. Bilingual preferred.
Equipment: Use of computers, with the ability to utlize a variety of software programs as needed. Also ten key, copy machine, fax machine and credit card device.
Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
