Job Description Summary:

MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Per Diem Patient Access Services Representative to perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with direct and scheduled patient admissions. In this role, you will frequently interact with patients, greeting them and their families, checking them in for services, and ensuring that information is readily available for clinical staff.

As a Per Diem representative, you will work at various locations as assigned and needed within our health system.

The Opportunity:

The Work:

  • Perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with point-of-service (POS) services.

  • Meet with patients or their caregivers to exchange necessary information and documentation, explain processes, and address any concerns or questions.

  • Communicate with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement.

  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain precertification/authorization, and ensure verification of medical necessity as necessary. Determine and accept required payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance, or refer to financial counselors for follow-up.

  • Ensure that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.

You Have:

  • Relevant customer service experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • 1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting preferred.

  • Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly.
