Kadlec Regional Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Access Representative I to join our growing Patient Access team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: Full-time, Variable Shift, 1 FTE.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 6 months Customer Service experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • General office experience.

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

As a Patient Access Representative Level I, you will perform patient registration and pre-registration of scheduled accounts, verifie insurance coverage, benefits, and obtain pre-certification, referral or authorizations as needed per insurance requirements; Participate in the collection of up-front revenue due the facility and provide quality customer service to internal and external customers.

  • Obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information from a variety of sources, including patient interviews, physician offices and in-house departments.

  • Perform required pre-certification and deposit collection.

  • Enter data in computer and thoroughly documents any incomplete admissions/registrations in manner prescribed.

  • Obtain pre-certification, referral or authorization number and updates the patient's file.

  • Provide demographic information to insurance companies and calls physician's offices as needed for pre-certification.

  • Notify patients or family members of any insurance coverage issues that may result in coverage reductions.

  • Notify patients of co-payments, deductibles or deposits needed.

  • Provide patients with estimated cost for services.

  • Complete Compliance Checker Process in accordance with Regulatory Guidelines.

  • Read physician order to differentiate patient registration type; i.e., pre-registration, registration, emergency and processes data accordingly.

  • Obtain all required documents and signatures.

  • Revise, add and update pertinent patient demographic and financial information in accordance to hospital policy and department procedure.

  • Perform other clerical tasks to support supervisor; (i.e., typing memos, correspondence, and QA related reports).

  • Operate the in-house communications, i.e., page at appropriate times, announcing codes, and fire and disaster alarms as described in the procedure manual.

  • Adhere to standard policies as outlined in department related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures.

  • Maintain good relations with all parties and respects patient's right to privacy.

  • Participate in unit and house-wide quality improvement activities in order to improve patient care and comply with regulatory such as Leapfrog and Core Measures.

Shift Details: Full-time, 1.0 FTE, Variable Shift Minimum Requirements: * 6 months customer service experience in a public setting Preferred Qualification: * Bilingual preferred Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: As an Access Monitor you will serve as first point of contact for individuals seeking to enter a Kadlec Clinic facility while limited access guidelines are in place or during normal operations when deemed necessary by leadership. Interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and caregivers at the point of entry to identify their needs and facilitate appropriate next steps. Caregivers serving as entry point monitors may be scheduled, based on need, at various Kadlec Clinics.. * Function as first point of contact serving as a greeter and welcoming presence for patients, visitors, vendors, and caregivers. * Ensure individuals seeking care are guided to the appropriate setting for their needs and that at no time is anyone turned away when seeking treatment. * Perform symptom screening, when deemed necessary, with all who seek to enter in accordance with the current Screening Guidelines. Where identified, carries out screening temperature checks with provided device. Allow individuals to enter based on outcome of symptom screening and in accordance with current Visitor Guideline. Ensure individuals with symptoms are directed to appropriate next step per Screening Guideline. * Confirm that those who enter are either a patient seeking care, a vendor, or have a valid exception for entering the facility based on the Exception Guideline and as identified by clinics or leadership. Exercise independent judgment to determine escalation pathway when an exception is not easily identifiable. * Ensure visitor badges are created for those entering clinics when they would not be tracked through other internal systems, i.e. a vendor who is tracked via RepTrax. * Receive items from individuals at the point of entry and ensures they are distributed to the identified party within the clinic. Ensure items from parties within the clinic to be provided to an outside individual are received, safeguarded and handed off to the appropriate outside individual.
