The Patient Access Representative is responsible for registering, scheduling and preregistering patients for inpatients, emergency and outpatient tests and procedures. The Representative will educate patients regarding their benefit levels and will request, collect and record payments prior to or at time of service. Ensures a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family members.

Responsibilities:
Visits patient rooms to gather needed insurance and financial information.
Confirms eligibility, verifies insurance benefits, obtains pre-certification, referral, and authorization for identified patient registrations.
Explains financial responsibilities for services received, payment options and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment.
Counsels patients regarding insurance benefits and recommends alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate.
Ensures that all necessary demographic and billing information is obtained for all patients and entered in the computer system with timeliness and accuracy.

Work Experience:
Minimum two years related experience that includes patient registration, patient billing, insurance processing, or Physician office functions.
Must have at least one year of public contact involving the resolution of customer/client issues.
OR One year of CCF experience involving reconciliation of issues related to patient accounts, patient registration, medical records, or other related areas.
Keyboarding skills required at 40 wpm. Note: Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study may substitute for up to one year of experience.
