Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for our patients and therefore must represent Mercy with the highest standard of customer service, compassion and perform all duties in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy service standards.

The Patient Access Representative will facilitate all components of the patients' entrance in to any Mercy facility. This may include scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance including pre-visit collection. The Patient Access Representative will be responsible for ensuring that the most accurate patient data is obtained and populated in to the patient record. This co-worker must have an exceptional attention to detail and maintain knowledge and competence with insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines as well as federal, state and accreditation agencies and serves as a mentor to fellow Patient Access co-workers.

  • Greets every individual on the phone or in person with a smile and a warm, professional greeting.

  • Provides outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers including our patients, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and insurance companies.

  • Keeps all wait times to a minimum.

Communication -

  • Works effectively with other co-workers, clinical departments and clinics to accomplish work and departmental projects.

  • Demonstrates positive and professional communication skills.

  • Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views, contributes to building a positive team spirit.

Confidentiality -

  • Respects at all times the confidentiality of patient records and uses complete discretion when discussing patient matters.

  • Ensures all patient information is secured and all paperwork is disposed of in appropriate confidential trash receptacles.

Qualifications:

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • 1-2 years clerical experience required, some college preferred. Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred. High School diploma required some college helpful.

Minimum skills, knowledge and ability requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, excellent telephone etiquette required.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical hospital staff and insurance companies.

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail

  • Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines and perform all daily assignments with a high level of accuracy.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced with various computers systems; Ability to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard.

Responsibilities and Qualifications Responsibilities: MA * Contributes data to be used in assessment of patient/situation. * Maintains a clean and safe environment. * Performs technical services according to appropriate protocols and procedures. * Participates in organizational professional activities. * Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. * Follows appropriate Mercy Physicians of Oklahoma (MPO) policies. * Performs other duties as assigned and determined by departmental operation. LPN * Collaborates in the workflow of the clinic and the assessment of patient/significant other in a timely, consistent and systematic manner. Documents subjective and objective data according to policy. * Demonstrates effective patient safety techniques and infection control. * Works as part of the clinic team in an effective and efficient manner to accomplish daily objectives * Performs technical services/procedures according to nursing standards and protocols. * Demonstrates effective and accurate verbal, written and electronic communication, and participates in clinic initiatives and operations. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications: MA I * Education: High School Education * Certifications: Current BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently. * Other: Able to perform various nursing functions. * Preferred Experience: Clinical experience MA II * Education: High School Education Or Equivalent * Certifications: Current BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently. CMA, RMA or NCMA certification or certification/registration through a program that requires passing an exam, continued education and is verifiable (i.e. on-line). * Other: Able to perform various clinical functions as listed in the job responsibilities. * Preferred Experience: Clinical experience LPN I * Education: Graduate accredited Practical Nursing Program. * Licensure: Must possess LPN licensure. * Certifications: Current BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently. * Other: Mercy values and patient care orientation necessary * Preferred Experience: Medical office experience preferred. LPN II * Education: Graduate accredited Practical Nursing Program. * Licensure: Current Oklahoma LPN Licensure * Certification/Registration: Three years current clinical experience and current CPR certification required. * Other skills & knowledge: (skills, knowledge, abilities) Must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. * Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
