What you will do:

  • Ensure the accuracy of the medical record number assignment, make corrections as deemed appropriate. Verifies and merges duplicate medical record numbers and/or EMR numbers.

  • Works daily MPI edit, Medical Record Number Assignment, Deleted/Restored Records, Merges, Unmerges, Moved Accounts and Duplicate Soc Sec Numbers Reports.

  • Notifies designated staff of duplicate Medical Record merges to correct all systems and educate staff.

  • Enter and verifies accurate demographic information from birth certificates into the patients MPI, scan Birth work sheets and Certificates to the EChart.

  • Review the local newspaper for deceased patients. Update expired patients Medical Record that expired off site and send notification to the designated staff. Verify patients that expired on site have the correct date and time listed in the MPI.

  • Research and update Mail Return addresses from daily mail drops. Manage the weekly SOS address return report by assisting, training other staff to assist and verify completion in a timely manner. Update verified addresses and send to SOS.

  • Answers phone and handles the caller's requests as appropriate.

What you will need:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.

  • Ability to use computer keyboard.

  • Ability to maintain and project a positive impression of the Medical Center at all times.

  • Ability to handle telephone and face-to-face inquiries and problems.

  • Ability to maintain neat and orderly files, records, and reports.

  • Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively in both written and oral form.

  • Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
