Job Description:

Scope of Position: Responsible for the daily operations of the Patient Access departments of all campuses; directly manages the Patient Access Staff including employee selection, training, evaluation, coaching and counseling; directly responsible for the patient accounts receivable; works collaboratively with internal and external departments and acts as a single point of contact for these Cancer Centers' Patient Access department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Patient Access department

  • Ensures the insurance verification process of third party payers occurs timely and consistently; including required pre-authorizations for treatment and imaging services

  • Ensures the financial counseling process for all patients is executed in an efficient and steady manner prior to treatment. This includes registration, explaining financial obligations, the billing process, and establishing payment arrangements.

  • Ensures the applicable collection of deductibles, co-pays and out of pocket expenses are collected from patients at the time of service. Certifies the appropriate discounts and adjustments to patients' accounts apply in accordance with the company's financial policies.

  • Assumes all responsibility for the department staffing and daily management of the employees

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Management, or other Business or -Health required curriculum.

  • Master's Degree in Finance, MBA, MPA, or MPH preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in the healthcare receivables field, with a work record that demonstrates:

  • In-depth knowledge of hospital and physician billing and reimbursement

  • Leadership in the core values of the organization and customer service skills

  • Clear, effective communication skills

  • Thorough knowledge of the processes, procedures, and methodology utilized in establishing, maintaining, and improving a sound control environment as defined by the COSO framework of Internal Control is highly preferred

  • Past work experience utilizing advanced Excel capabilities including assumption modeling, pivots, lookups, macros/vba is highly preferred

  • Experience with Total Quality Management and/or process design is preferred

  • Healthcare Finance experience is highly preferred, as is knowledge of Healthcare Industry Financial Indicators

  • A mature approach to problem-solving for all types of issues, negotiating skills, & detail oriented

  • Knowledge of information privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies. Knowledge of oncology processes
