Job Description:

SUNY Orange is currently seeking part-time Pathway Coaches for the Title V - PROSPERAR grant for both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses to support the diverse needs of our student population. With the support of PROSPERAR initiatives, Pathway Coaches will monitor student progress, troubleshoot academic, financial and socio-emotional challenges and ensure students receive the support they need when they most need them. Each Pathway Coach will represent a different career community, supporting the academic and career path of those students specific to their field. Requirements:

Education Required: Bachelor's degree.

Experience Required: Proficient in time management and financial literacy, as well as navigating financial aid and/or admissions and career counseling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge about community and college resources.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social or Behavioral Science, or related field

  • Master's degree in Education, Social or Behavioral Science, or related field.

  • Experience with developing, conducting and evaluating educational programs.

  • Knowledge of higher education, training and vocational programs.

  • Experience working with low-income, first-generation populations.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Proactive problem solver that demonstrates initiative and the ability to work individually and in a team setting when necessary.

  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public.

  • Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.

  • Ability to coordinate work flow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Ability to present complex information and data in coherent fashion.

  • Bilingual Spanish.
