Position Title: Pathology Charge and Coding Specialist
The Pathology Charging and Coding Specialist is responsible releasing laboratory results and assigning the appropriate ICD-9m ICD -10, CPT-4, MIPs and HCPCS codes, as well as abstract pertinent clinical information for bill preparation for the following Pathology patients as outlined in the coding policy and procedure manual. This position ensures timely charge entry and MIPs quality code assignments for CFH Pathologists. This position is also responsible for entering MIPs codes into the Registry for CFH Pathologists, ensuring timely charge capture, Pathology coding, researching and resolving coding/billing issues, appeal denials and analyzing the medical record for completeness, consistency, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Post High School Special Training
Credentials or equivalent through AHIMA or AAPC
Histology Laboratory Billing Experience Preferred
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
