30 Pathologists, 50,000 Annual Surgicals, Pathology Residents
1019 Beds 30 pathologists 50,000 surgical cases annually Duke University Hospital Surgical Pathology Laboratory has an immediate opening for a 6th full-time Pathologists' Assistant.
Responsibilities include administrative and grossing duties:
Complex specimens grossing experience preferred No autopsies Teaching of PA students and residents Candidates must have ASCP certification Graduate of a NAACLS accredited PA training program Competitive compensation package Relocation assistance (depending on move distance) Hours are Monday through Friday, 10:30am - 7:00pm No weekends No evening calls
Grossing duties include but are not limited to:
Triage and gross analysis of all types of specimens Frozen section coverage Procurement of tissue for research Teaching of Pathologists' Assistant students and pathology residents. Prior teaching experience is welcome
Other responsibilities include:
Photographing surgical specimens Intraoperative FNA and EBUS Assessing and electing candidates for the Duke PA training program Highly motivated, detailed-oriented PA with strong leadership skills is needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational skills are required.

Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistantprogram.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Certification by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants.
