The Party Host is to organize implement, supervise, and evaluate all facility rentals at the designated site. The Party Hostess works with the branch leadership team to ensure that resources are secured to successfully implement the events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Special Event Staff

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as role model to members and Y staff, and at all times live the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.

  • Schedule, engage participants, and supervise YMCA special events, birthday parties and facility rentals at the branch while ensuring the safety of program participants at all time and to ensure that member service is at or above expected levels during events and rentals. Promote YMCA programs to event participants when appropriate.

  • Set-up furniture, decorations and equipment prior to events and to clean up following events while integrating healthy lifestyle choices into events when appropriate, considering menu and activities during events. Develops appropriate marketing materials for special events and facility rentals and distributes materials as needed.

  • Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.

  • Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.

  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y.

  • Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.

  • Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Program Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma

  • 2 or more years of experience in event planning, youth programming or related field preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass background check
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification*
  • Note: The * noted certification training programs must be obtained within 30 days of hire, if not currently certified and are available at SCFY if needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is expected to be able to successfully perform all physical activities necessary to perform essential and related functions of the position including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position is expected to be able to perform essential and related functions of the position which can generally be described as light work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to moderate during office hours and moderate to loud during event hours. This position works in a variety of environments which can include but are not limited to, office settings, gymnasiums, and outdoors. This position works a varied work week as determined by the needs required to manage operations and events of which can include working evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate events.

Serves as a positive and wholesome role model to all participants and other staff in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Scott County Family Y. Programs include but are not limited to, tumbling, gymnastic, dance, martial arts, arts/crafts, etc. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: The Program Instructor is responsible for supervising all participants during class time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Serve as a role model to members and Y staff and live the YMCA mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement. * Maintain a positive attitude, act in a professional manner and provide extraordinary member service and responsiveness to members needs while exhibiting teaching and leadership skills. * Establish and maintain good communication with all participants, members and supervisor. * Maintain equipment and insure good housekeeping before, during and after class reporting all concerns. * Establish proper class design. This would include written lesson plans, practice and research, supplies, and equipment as well as model and enforce facility policies. * Attend all staff meetings and/or trainings when scheduled and assist with fundraising events when needed * Secure approval from supervisor of a sub when needed. * Report any accidents, concerns, equipment troubles immediately. Fill out and file with appropriate supervisor all incident reports when needed. * Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign. * Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements while ensure that licensing regulations are met and attend all in-service trainings and staff meetings. * Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y. * Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings. * All other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Branch Executive. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * High School degree preferred * Prior experience in related field required. CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be able to pass background check * CPR/First Aid/AED certification* * Mandatory Reporter* * Note: The * noted certification training programs must be obtained within 30 days of hire, if not currently certified. Some are available through employment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to demonstrate and physically perform all related activities being taught (i.e. gymnastics, dance, etc.). Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and set up program equipment as necessary. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see close and far range and hear. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to small children and program equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to moderate depending upon the number of participants and activities occurring. This position works in a variety of environments which can include, but are not limited to, indoors, outdoors, schools and gymnasiums.
