Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Coral Gables operates under a commission/manager form of government and is well known for its active and involved citizenry. The Part-Time Procurement Specialist will be responsible for complex, advanced, and specialized procurement and contract administration work in the purchase of goods, equipment, and services, including specialized procurement and contract administration work dealing with construction contract/services, design and related professional services.

  • Employees in this class are responsible for developing bid specifications for new and recurring contracts in varied commodity categories for use by City departments.

  • Such duties involve specialized knowledge and experience in completing complex and large purchasing transactions and independently solving a wide variety of problems associated with public procurement management.

  • Work emphasizes preparing and issuing formal bid documents, determining awards methods, enforcing competitive procedures in accordance with established legal and procedural requirements, bid evaluation, contract administration, communicating with vendors and department officials, and responding to periodic audits.

  • This position requires the exercise of independent judgment and initiative pertaining to awarding large purchases within the context of established laws, policies, rules and regulations.

A Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.

Four (4) years public sector procurement experience in a related position is required. Other related experience may be considered.

A CPPB (Certified Professional Public Buyer), a CPPO (Certified Public Purchasing Officer) or a CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) is desirable.

Any comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Valid State of Florida Driver's license.
