Sandhills is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time plumbing instructor at the Hoke High School to assist in the start up of our new plumbing program. This position is in our Continuing Education Department and reports to the Director of Allied Health, Career Training & Technology.

The candidate for this position must be available to teach at according to the High School schedule for at least one period per day. Contact Lori Degre at degrel@sandhills.edu for additional information or questions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the plumbing field

  • Computer experience required and teaching experience a plus.

  • NCCER certified trainer preferred but not required.

Salary to be commensurate with experience and state salary schedules. Applications will be accepted until June 30, 2019.

VIEW JOBS 8/8/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-06T00:00 Sandhills Community College seeks applications for a Coordinator of HSE/ABE Programs, Hoke Center. Reporting to the Director of College and Career Readiness, this position will coordinate College and Career Readiness day and night classes in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program and High School Equivalency (HSE) classes at the Hoke Center and Hoke Correctional facility. Coordination includes hiring and supervision of instructors, coordinating and overseeing new student intake, instruction, and assessments ensuring compliance, screening and verifying all written documentation required by programs, recruitment and marketing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Plans, organizes, develops, and supervises CCR programs and classes at the Hoke Center and Hoke Correctional facility. Updates Program Associate with section and instructor contract information and subsequent changes in a timely manner. * Works with CCR director, instructors, community agencies, Hoke Correctional staff, and high schools to ensure adequate enrollment in classes and to promote CCR programs. * Provides educational and administrative support to instructors ensuring adherence to the CCR Instructor Manual and SCC Policy and Procedures. * Visits both day and evening CCR classes at each class location in order to observe performance of instructors to ensure that learner-centered objectives and internal audit requirements are being met. Completes Class Visits, submits Visitation Reports to Director and provides appropriate feedback to instructors. * Reviews all Instructor Time Reports, Rosters, LEIS and other department forms for accuracy and completion by instructor prior to submission to Program Associate and/or LEIS coordinator. * Monitors Rosters and maintains communication with instructors regarding student attendance concerns, following up and enforcing attendance policy in accordance with CCR Classroom Agreement. * Ensures proper academic placement of students as defined by National Reporting System (NRS) and NC Community Colleges System. * Oversees and/or assists in administering NRS assessments, ensures timely testing of students as required. * Provides orientation and advising to CCR students. Ensures college and career readiness goals for transitioning are set with each student and monitored to promote retention and completion of goals. * Makes recommendations regarding the selection and training of instructors. Ensures instructors complete required trainings and job-specific professional development. * Displays leadership abilities and thorough understanding of CCR programs and CCR Instructor Manual. Understands and promotes career training programs and opportunities throughout Continuing Education and Sandhills Community College. * Demonstrates an understanding of and participates in meeting department initiatives/goals such as WIOA, Career Pathways, Performance Measures, etc. * Attend CCR department meetings and Continuing Education division meetings. * Attend training at the regional and state level in order to remain up-to-date on policy, procedures, and best practices related to CCR reporting and compliance. * Performs all the duties of an instructor and instructs classes as needed. Qualifications: * Bachelors Degree required. * Proficiency in Office 365. * Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, word processing, and data entry. * CASAS and TABE training needed. * The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines while multi-tasking. * Flexibility, good organizational skills, and attention to detail. * Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills are essential to support a busy team environment. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good judgment, tact, and courtesy. * Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including incarcerated populations. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow complex oral and written directions.
