As a Part-time Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for delivering, installing, and demonstrating merchandise in our customer's home, while providing outstanding customer service along the way!

The Work

  • Load, secure and protect product in delivery vehicle and safely transport merchandise without damage

  • Verify product information and accessories to ensure it matches for deliveries and returns

  • Ensure all merchandise is clean and in operating condition prior to delivery

  • Offload, install and demonstrate merchandise for our customers safely

  • Perform routine service calls, product exchanges and assist with merchandise returns

  • Confirm customer identification, collect money and obtain customers signature on lease agreements

  • Assist sales team with field marketing programs requested by store management

  • Support in maintaining the showroom floor and store's warehouse by moving and organizing merchandise

  • Maintain the store's warehouse in a neat and orderly manner

  • Safely operate delivery vehicle and follow delivery schedule set by management

  • Accurately document all vehicle movement on daily route sheets

  • Team partnership with both the Sales Manager and Customer Service Representative(s) to drive revenue and to meet and exceed daily, weekly and monthly sales goals

  • Conduct daily inspection of assigned delivery vehicle to ensure safety and maintenance guidelines are met

  • Any other reasonable duties requested by management

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old with a valid state Driver's License and compliance with the Company's Driver Qualification Policy; including satisfactory MVR (driving record)

  • Must meet DOT requirements to obtain certification in required states

  • Ability to work schedule of hours varying from 8 am to 9 pm

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without help and up to 300 lbs. with the assistance of a dolly

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • High energy with the ability to effectively perform all functions of the store and multitasking effectively

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Proper customer service etiquette

  • Uphold the Aaron's Brand and protect company assets

  • Maintain a professional appearance

  • Strong technical skills and/or working knowledge of electronic products

Work involves operating a medium duty truck and trailer and/or heavy duty tractor truck and trailer to transport cargo between state owned facilities. Works under the general supervision of the Regional Laundry Manager IV, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. May be required to train others. This position requires maintaining forms or records pertaining to vehicle operation. Completion of work requires use of established methods and/or techniques. Decisions are based on well-defined guidelines. The Vehicle Driver II has no financial responsibility but is accountable for assigned property. All tasks will be performed within established time frames. Essential Job Functions: Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 1. Properly operates a truck and trailer between state owned facilities to transport laundry products. a. Operates the vehicle in accordance with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) rules and regulations. b. Possesses and maintains a commercial driver's license (CDL). 2. Performs operator vehicle and trailer preventative maintenance checks. Specific checks will be made before, during and after operations. a. Check for proper fluid levels for crankcase oil, transmission and power steering fluid, and brake master cylinder fluid prior to each over-the road trip. b. Check for proper tire pressure, including spare tire, on a daily basis. c. Make all safety checks (windshield wipers, lights, etc.) prior to, during, and after operations. d. Drain brake air lines daily, if applicable to the assigned vehicle. e. Follow all driver checklist items, and perform all operator PM service on schedule. 3. Account for and properly load, tie down and unload cargo. Laundry carts and trailer will not be damaged in any way due to a failure to properly load and tie down the cargo. 4. Clean trailer interior after unloading soiled laundry carts. The trailer must be cleaned properly based upon departmental standards/policy prior to loading clean items. a. Clean the trailer walls, ceiling and floor with steam, or a strong, acceptable disinfectant. b. Maintain a record of each cleaning, and file those reports with the Laundry Manager. 5. Process paperwork to fulfill departmental needs. Initiates, processes and completes paperwork according to local guidelines and without significant errors or time delays. 6. On days when you do not drive, you will be required to work in the Laundry, i.e., sorting, washing, folding and packaging laundry and helping the maintenance technician with mechanical issues pertaining to laundry equipment. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of motor vehicle operations. Knowledge of cargo loading and unloading methods. Knowledge of preventative maintenance of motor vehicles. Skill in operating tractor trailer combination. Ability to follow schedules and instructions in operating vehicles, and to follow acceptable practices in loading and unloading cargo. Ability to count, read, and comprehend. Knowledge of operations/instruction manuals, and safety manuals. Knowledge of all Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) driving rules and regulations. Skilled in the use of lift gates. Ability to maintain records and write effectively. Knowledge of infection control policies. Ability to sort, fold and package laundry. Ability to train others. Over-the-road experience driving truck and trailer equipment is preferred. Initial Selection Criteria: 1. Must have a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License. 2.
