This position has specialized manual and minor clerical responsibilities in the procurement of parts and inventory for the Shop Division and other divisions and departments.
This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Maintains a current inventory of standard replacement parts for City owned vehicles and equipment.
Keeps records of parts and supplies purchased for each individual vehicles and equipment on all City units.
Purchases specified replacement parts and supplies in accordance with established City policies.
Receives and distributes parts and supplies as instructed.
Maintains records of repairs and maintenance performed for individual vehicles and equipment on all City units.
Provides verbal reports to the superintendent and other departments and divisions.
Maintains an appropriate oil inventory.
Performs any tasks assigned and assists other Shop employees in the performance of the duties.
Completes purchase orders and requisitions. Must follow all purchasing procedures for the City of Clovis and follow up on purchase orders and requisitions.
Researches and finds all part numbers for parts and equipment before ordering parts for all departments.
Obtains parts from local and surrounding parts stores and to distribute to appropriate mechanics.
Must be able to drive a fork lift to unload deliveries.
Must have good public relation skills.
Minimum Qualification
No specific educational requirement.
One (1) year experience in automotive and diesel engines and industrial equipment repair, one (1) year experience in record keeping procedures, parts procurement and warehousing procedures is preferred

Working Conditions
Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
Essential duties are predominantly performed indoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions.
Employee is exposed to airborne particles, potentially toxic and/or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures, travel from site to site, work around traffic and heavy construction equipment.
Use of safety shoes, glasses and other equipment is required
