  • The Society has a very conservative grooming policy. Tattoos may not be visible or must be appropriately covered while on duty. Jewelry may be worn if it does not detract from a well-groomed look or create a safety hazard. No facial or tongue piercing.

Job Requirements include:

Experience in cause marketing, sponsorship sales or service and/or licensing is required. An example would be at least three years of experience. Additional experience in media trade and promotions a plus. A Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, a related field or equivalent specialized training/experience is necessary. Selected candidate must be available to work any of the seven days of the week, approximately 40 or more hours per week without limitations. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including CRM is essential. Applicants must have excellent written and communications skills. Experience in maintaining a variety of contacts in order to bring in new partners and relationships is needed. In addition, experience in contractual negotiations, outbound sales and prospecting skills are necessary. A valid California driver license is required. Experience in a zoo or theme park is desirable. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. (Extended 9/12/18)

The Partnership Marketing Representative performs all job assignments with a positive attitude that supports San Diego Zoo Global's mission and vision of saving species worldwide by uniting our expertise in animal care and conservation science with our dedication to inspiring passion for nature and leading the fight against extinction. The Partnership Marketing Representative develops, solicits and manages partner/sponsor marketing programs to generate revenue, awareness and attendance for SDZG. This position reports to the Partnership Marketing Manager.


  • Creates, negotiates and fulfills corporate sponsorship agreements

  • Oversees activities with independent discretion and judgment

  • Solicits, negotiates, develops and maintains partnerships primarily with external entities

  • Assesses market trends and external needs

  • Develops and modifies programs to increase effectiveness

  • Follows up with external entities to ensure satisfaction

  • Establishes and maintains positive rapport with corporate sponsorship clients

  • Writes, edits and reviews a variety of materials

  • Works in a team environment to accomplish collective goals

  • Develops and coordinates events, promotions, advertising programs and on-site/off-site marketing activities

  • Assures contractual obligations are met in a timely and efficient manner

  • Prepares reports on program performance

  • Adheres to all SDZG and department policies and practices

  • Practices the GRRREAT Customer Service Standards


  • Coordinates needed program elements

  • Oversees activities with independent discretion and judgment to meet assigned goals

  • Solicits, negotiates, develops and maintains partnerships primarily with external entities to support the financial and positioning goals of the marketing department

  • Establishes and maintains contact with clients through field sales calls, meetings and industry functions

  • Maintains a variety of contacts in order to respond to inquiries and requests effectively coordinate activities


Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.


Examples of representative qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field; several years of experience in cause marketing, sponsorship sales or licensing is required, an example would be at least three years; experience in a zoo or theme park is desirable; valid California driver license.
