The Opportunity

As a Partnering Technology & Science Lead, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer, Roche Diagnostics and be a member of the Technology & Science Chapter. For this position, you will bring extensive technical and scientific expertise in pathology and tissue diagnostics technologies and their applications. You will evaluate external technologies and develop technology roadmaps and strategies focused on novel and innovative technologies and solutions, including Digital Pathology applications to drive business value for Roche Diagnostics and the Roche Group. It involves collaborating across functions and geographies with internal and external experts. Some additional responsibilities are

  • You will collaborate with network leads to support Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS) and Roche Information Solutions (RIS) in new technology scouting, assessments, and acquisitions while providing a trusted independent expert voice to ensure the quality of partnering opportunities.

  • You will be a skillful ambassador for Roche Diagnostics to make Roche a partner of choice when working with internal and external stakeholders.

  • You will participate in partnering squads for company evaluation, due diligence to gain access to external innovation; providing timely, accurate, and clear recommendations.

  • You will proactively generate partnering leads by engaging in global technology scouting and collaborating with entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts to assess external development and early innovation programs for IVD Technologies, including Molecular Diagnostics, Core Lab, and PoC solutions.

  • Your will guide technology and application landscaping with actionable recommendations to capture emerging local and global trends and future opportunities in IVD and Life Science technologies to shape business strategy.

  • Provide technology benchmarking and assessments for potential deals.

  • Support research (R&D), engineering, data services, and new product pipeline (Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, Lifecycle Teams).

  • Conduct the communication of landscape readouts to drive the alignment and pursuit of identified high-value opportunities in the organization.

  • Support and contribute to divisional research and technology development strategy for achieving mid-to-long-term, divisional objectives.

  • Contribute to a worldwide research intelligence network for Roche Diagnostics and provide inputs to mid-/long-term IVD solution development strategies and roadmaps.

  • Identify synergies between diagnostics customer areas based on deep technical knowledge and understanding of Diagnostics' business strategy.

  • This may include responsibility for timeline, budget, milestone achievement, and successful review of conclusions as well as presentation to senior management.

Who You Are

  • You hold a Ph.D. in Life Sciences (e.g. Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, etc), Engineering or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and/or work experience.

  • 10+ years of IVD or Life Sciences technology & implementation experience, with working knowledge of biochemical sensing

  • Deep technical and scientific knowledge in tissue diagnostics technologies and applications

  • Project management experience and R&D management experience in the Life Sciences industry

Required skills to succeed:

  • Working knowledge of biosensor and life sciences technologies, specifically tissue diagnostics technologies

  • Understanding of the regulated R&D environment and aspects of product development for Medical Devices or IVD.

  • Highly knowledgeable in the broad technology fields relevant to tissue diagnostics (tissue staining, imaging, sequencing, PCR, etc)

  • Excellent technical, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills.

  • Strategic and business-driven mindset.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills including a track record of managing high-performing cross-functional teams/squads.

  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to network and work in a complex environment.

As this position is a global role, international business travel will be required depending upon the business location of the successful candidate and ongoing business project activities.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona $145,700 - $270,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
