Payments are a key part of our mission to build community and bring the world closer together. Our payment systems underpin over $25billion of Facebook's revenue, enabling multiple products and platforms to offer end to end transaction capabilities.

We are looking for a Partner Engineer to join Payments Partnerships team in Menlo Park and focus on LATAM region. The successful candidate will be focusing exclusively on LATAM, providing a unique opportunity to help define and execute Facebook's strategy for the region. Partner Engineering is a highly technical team that works with strategic partners to deeply integrate their services with Facebook.

In this unique role, you will use your technical and business skills to drive value for our partners and for Facebook. The ideal candidate will combine deep engineering and product skills with a passion for online payments and financial services, ensuring integrations with our strategic partners in the LATAM region are successful and drive impact. This position is full-time and is based in Menlo Park, California.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deeply understand Facebook payment platform architecture and underlying implementation.

Be a technical expert in payments, able to influence both internal and external teams.

Manage all technical aspects of relationships with our strategic payments partners.

Develop deep integrations and custom solutions for and with our partners.

Influence the product roadmap through representation of the needs of our partner ecosystem.

Collaborate closely with our Product and Engineering teams to design and implement new product features.

Build technical resources and tools to scale onboarding of new partners.

Willingness and ability to travel ~10% of time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience as a software engineer, technical consultant or partner/sales engineer.

Experience managing technical relationships with third party services or partners.

Knowledge of web networking technology stacks (HTTP, JavaScript, RESTful APIs) and system integration approaches.

Experience building or integrating with payment services and gateways.

Experience presenting to technical and business audiences at all levels.

Fluency in Spanish.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience.

As a Technical Program Manager in the WhatsApp Payments Engineering team, you will play a key role defining and driving impactful engineering projects, solving complex systems problems and building features and infrastructure that power WhatsApp's Payments products. You have the proven ability to go deep into payment architecture & infrastructure along with a solid understanding of messaging platforms and cloud infrastructure. You are expected to be a highly effective communicator, articulate & implement a clear direction in both product & technical dimensions, and build strong partnerships across cross-functional teams in different regions of the globe. This is a full-time position based in our main office in Menlo Park. RESPONSIBILITIES * Work in a fast-paced and iterative technical environment with engineering leaders across software, payments, and partner teams. Deeply understand product position & technical infrastructure including end-to-end system from user-experience through client & service details like reliably sending & receiving payment messages in various countries and partners. Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources. Proactively identify and analyze complex, long-term, critical infrastructure problems with Engineering leaders and stakeholders. Identify best practices for Distributed Systems by understanding tradeoffs to application & system performance. Create programs to solve these problems by determining goals that align with company initiatives, understand dependencies, define milestones, assess risk and identify resource requirements. Achieve alignment in ambiguous or contentious areas to drive product decisions. Collaborate extensively within TPM and with cross-functional engineering teams to create and execute a structure for successful delivery of programs. Provide hands-on program management during various phases of the program including day-to-day coordination of tasks. Identify process improvements to minimize manual effort by driving build out of automation and workflow tooling engines. Develop a communication strategy for the cross-functional team and stakeholders at different levels of the organization to align, influence and deliver on goals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience. Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery. Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope. Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership. Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products. Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience. Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems. Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in realtime, messaging systems, payments systems or cloud infrastructure. Experience in building or managing system software components like realtime or messaging systems, payment architectures, caching, in a large-scale environment. Experience with Payments systems that understands the nuances of payments (e.g. regulations). Analytical and problem-solving skills, experience with large-scale systems and experience writing code.
