Job Summary
The Part-Time Web Developer and Technology Specialist updates, maintains, and develops websites. This position also supports all technology, online platforms, and software systems used by the Division of Strategy and Institutional Effectiveness (SIE) and the campus Testing and Assessment Departments (TADs).
Duties & Responsibilities
Updates web content on a weekly basis
Analyzes problems in terms of systems and programming requirements, and modifies the system design to take maximum advantage of available data processing equipment
Consults on the implementation of systems/programming applications and assists in devising data verification methods and standard systems procedures
Creates web banners
Recommends technology and supports its use by SIE and TADs
Coordinates the management, upgrades and maintenance of the websites
Coordinates with staff to make ensure that content on the website is accurate and current
Keeps supervisor informed of progress on a weekly basis
Provides technical support over the phone, via email, or in person
Develops interactive web strategies
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in Web Design or Web Development; or an Associate's degree; or any combination of education and experience in technology or related field
All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Possess a strong command of hand coded XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery
Familiarity with client/server architecture
Familiarity with W3C web standards compliance, best programming practices and cross browser testing
Knowledge of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash preferred
Possess a strong attention to detail and be self-motivated
Possess excellent interpersonal skills; as well as, written and oral communication skills
Familiarity or ability to quickly learn: OOP/MVC Design Patterns, PHP, HTTP, Object-C/Cocoa, ActionScript, SQLite/MySQL, AJAX, XML/XSLT/XQuery, JSON/YAML, WURFL, Git/SVN, Symfony/Zend, Phing, PHPDoc, PHPUnit/XUnit, Xdebug, and SSH
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend assignments
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
Preferences
Minimum of one (1) year of software development experience in client/server and web-based deployments. Development experience with one or more of the following: NET, Visual Basic., ASP (VBScript), SQL, XML/HTML
