About Our College

Galveston College is a comprehensive community college located on Galveston Island, just 40 miles south of Houston, Texas. Our College provides the citizens of Galveston Island and the surrounding region with academic, workforce development, continuing education, and community service programs. We serve an ethnically diverse population of approximately 2,400 students each semester in credit programs and nearly 5,000 individuals annually in continuing education programs. Job Highlights

Tutors report directly to the Student Success center Coordinator. They also work closely with students and instructors. Tutors generally work with one student at a time, but may work with a small group.

This is an on campus position

Seeking Part Time Tutors in English, Math, Sciences, History, and Government.

Required Qualifications

• Should be enrolled in Galveston College/ another community college or already possess a higher education degree;

• Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher;

• An "A" average in English Composition I & II;

• Two faculty references (if currently a student) and a third personal/ work reference. If applicant has already obtained a degree and is no longer enrolled in school, three references are required;

• Highly dependable;

• Interested in working one-on-one or in small group;

• Have a solid command of the course material;

• Great customer service skills;

• A desire and willingness to learn;

• Excellent oral and communication skills;

• Committed to being a team player.

Preferred Qualifications

• Already possess an Associate/ Bachelor degree and working in an education related field;

• May be a retired educator.
