Job Title Part-Time TRIO -SSS Specialist Job Description

Perform a variety of technical and administrative support tasks in the maintenance and management of the TRIO-SSS Grant by providing superior service to current and prospective students, and members of the College community. This position is a multi-year funded position by the U.S. Department of Education.

Essential Duties Summary

  • Provide administrative and general office support to Student Support Services and the TRIO-SSS program.

  • Provide optimal customer service including courteous and responsive written and verbal communication.

  • Answer phones, manage office traffic, and greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the TRIO-SSS Office area and/or Student Support Services.

  • Respond to student inquiries promptly and assist in answering questions and resolving complaints or issues concerning services.

  • Responsible for maintaining a constant inventory list of office storage room and office supplies, forms, equipment, etc.

  • Maintain order and cleanliness of office, copier space and back-office area.

  • Request ISARS from the Financial Aid Department for TRIO-SSS Applicants.

  • Publicize and promote services, resources, and activities for TRIO-SSS to TRIO-SSS students (TRIO-SSS Calendar and events, etc…)

  • Contact students via telephone and email who are on TRIO-SSS roster but not enrolled for the current semester to provide information and resources and stay informed about enrollment status. Maintain database of information.

  • Coordinate with Director and advisors to maintain digital folder of all TRIO-SSS workshops, events, activities and trips.

  • Create, update and maintain TRIO-SSS Blackboard Course.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of flyers, spreadsheets, databases, and online tracking of group programs, events, and activities as required for Student Support Services and the TRIO-SSS program.

  • Assist in the maintenance of confidential electronic and hard copy student records and files for Student Support Services and TRIO-SSS program participants.

  • Function as a team member of the TRIO-SSS professional staff and implement processes necessary to accomplish the goals & philosophy of the Department of Education, college, division, & grant initiatives.

  • Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations associated with enrollment functions.

  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other meetings and events as required.

  • Actively participate in Student Affairs planning, evaluation, and program review.

  • Treat students and colleagues respectfully, speak to others courteously, and behave in such a way that creates a workplace environment that is marked by trustworthiness, honest but polite communication, and interpersonal interaction that are both personally cordial and professionally appropriate.

  • Serve on committees as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.

Salary Range $15.00 per hour Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others.

  • Skill in the use of computers and commitment to use of technology.

  • Experience with current version of MS Office or similar programs

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to anticipate and respond to change in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Provide exceptional customer service with people internal and external to the institution.

  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college.

  • Flexible and adaptable to change

  • Ability to multi-task with multiple staff projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree preferred.

Physical Demands

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions; possess ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers. Be able to lift weights up to 10 pounds on a regular basis
