Job Summary
The Off-Campus Civic Leadership Student Assistants are assigned to work at nonprofit organizations that partner with MDC and are placed with one of dozens of organizations that address a variety of social and civic issues. Successful completion of a Level I background screening (at no cost to the student) is a condition of employment for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Serve at a local nonprofit organization
Help build capacity at their assigned site
Assist with programming and direct services
Meet regularly with their campus' iCED office
Serve a liaison between their host agency and MDC and the iCED department to identify additional partnership opportunities
Attend regular MDC professional development related to changemaking, civic learning, and engagement
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent accredited GED
Must qualify for financial aid and be enrolled in at least six (6) college credits
Demonstrated Interest in public service and civic engagement
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Ability to consistently provide a friendly and positive disposition
Must make a minimum of a two-semester commitment to the program
Must attend pre-service training and on-going professional development sessions at MDC
Additional Requirements
The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
