The Part Time Sewing Studio Team Member is responsible for the successful operation of the Sewing Studio. The Sewing Studio Team Member delivers strong financial performance that meets and exceeds budget expectations, a superior shopping experience for the customer that includes great service, a pleasing environment, professional development of self through effective leadership, training, coaching, active mentoring, and professional leadership that ensures continuous pursuit of excellence for the store.
Customer Service: Ensures friendly, knowledgeable service to every customer. Maintains visibility in the Sewing Studio/sales floor to assist customers. Monitors feedback on quality of experience, products, and content and shares with leadership team, vendors and SSC partners. Trains store Team Members on Sewing Studio offerings to encourage support for product purchasing and finance offers. Manages multiple projects, customers and events at one time. Processes sales transactions by using proper cash handling procedures. Promotes and updates customer mailing list.
Great Operations: Proactively drives sales. Understands and supports the JOANN brand by ensuring Team Members are trained to provide the best in class experience through our products and services. Strongly executes FAST service method by providing knowledge on products and services on the sales floor and Sewing Studio. Maintains an organized, well stocked and presentable department. Maintains department machinery, equipment, tools are operational, and ensures maintenance. Processes company documents in a timely, accurate manner. Tracks, analyzes and assesses performance of sales. Reviews Sewing Studio P&L statement. Identifies opportunities to increase sales.
Supports teamwork and collaboration. Coordinates with supervisors to ensure that production schedules are met with minimal interruptions in the workflow. Displays friendly approach with customers and coworkers. Has strong communication skills. Monitors, trains, and enforces safety procedures to ensure accidents are avoided. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong technology and organization skills. Performs duties with integrity and professionalism. Abides by Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. Works scheduled hours. Follows meal and break requirement. Ensures payroll time worked is recorded accurately. Arrives to work on time, in dress code, and ready to perform job responsibilities. Completes tasks in a timely, accurate manner. Follows Company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands (Able to):
Push/pull merchandise with appropriate equipment (carts, tubs, etc)
Individually lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance
Lift, place, and arrange items on shelves and rack
Bend down/reach above head
Continuously walk around the store through shift
Read written information on paper and computer screens
Input data on computer and handheld units
May use 2-way headsets (hear incoming messages and provide verbal response)
Min: 5 yrs experience in the sewing industry; Sales experience; Strong knowledge of POS system and Windows-based computer applications; Retail operations familiarity; Finance option experience
Preferred: 10 years of sewing industry experience.
Strong selling skills in high-end sewing machines; Working knowledge of scheduling software and Microsoft Office; Strong organization skills; High attention to detail; Ability to: work with vendors, customers and employees, perform problem analysis resolution, organize and prioritize tasks and projects, interact collaboratively with others, communicate effectively in a group environment, and work a varied schedule based on business needs.
