SCHOOL NURSE-RN--Part time
Innovation is seeking an exceptional School Nurse who wants to be part of creating an excellent school atmosphere. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement, manage, and in some cases, deliver school health services. The school nurse reports to the Principal who partners with the nurse in overseeing school health services.
Provide mandated annual staff health training for the purpose of meeting health and safety needs of children and ensuring compliance with established regulation and program standards.
Assess and plan for the health care needs of students with acute and chronic health conditions, write care plans in collaboration with school staff, parents/guardians, Health Care Providers (HCP), and appropriate school staff
Provide consultant services to school personnel regarding health issues, e.g., communicable disease control (including Covid-19), Immunization compliance for the purpose of meeting legal requirements and school health and safety .
Asses the physical and emotional health of students as related to the educational process and within the scope of school nurse practice; initiate referrals for further diagnosis & treatment of identified health needs and provides follow-up; communicate health concerns that may impact learning to appropriate staff with parent and/or student consent
Delegate and supervise health procedures and medication administration to unlicensed assistive personnel staff and ensure compliance with established regulation and program standards.
Coordinate and implements health screenings mandated by law, including referral and follow-up for the purpose of supporting student academic achievement and well-being.
May provide health counseling and crisis intervention to students; serves as an advocate for the health rights of students and as a professional liaison between the school, family and health community for the purpose of supporting student social and emotional well-being.
Perform professional nursing tasks as indicated and assigned, including emergency services when on site.
Serve as a resource for health education to classroom teachers as time allows.
Cooperate with administrators and other staff to identify school safety and environmental health needs.
Participate in appropriate data collection as related to health care services.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by supervisor
Relationship Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Washington State registered nurse (RN) license required
CPR/first aid certification required
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
Meet health clearance, and pass the reference, background/criminal checks, per education code.
Self motivated with excellent times management and prioritization skills
Detail oriented and a team player
Ability to respond to and handle emergency situations in a calm, professional, and effective manner.
Ability to work with students who have a wide range of abilities, behaviors, and medical conditions.
Demonstrated skill in appropriate lifting procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
School nurse experience in public or private schools preferred
Proficiency in Google platform.
JOB TYPE: Part Time, 15 hours per week
SALARY: $32 - 43 per hour DOE, compensation is competitive with local school districts
HOLIDAYS: Paid holidays are outlined in the work calendar presented at the time of hiring.
