JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Diet Assessment Center is seeking students who speak fluent Spanish to assist with a research project, starting in Spring 2024; student(s) should have some knowledge of cooking and an interest in food. Hours will be flexible, but typically evenings. See below for more details.

The Penn State Diet Assessment Center (PSDAC) offers an exciting opportunity for bi-lingual undergraduate students to get involved in research as a dietary research interviewer. Students gain valuable nutrition experience essential for a Dietetic Internship Program. It is also an excellent opportunity for those who want to pursue an advanced degree in nutrition or other health related profession.

We are looking to hire undergraduate students interested in training with us during the spring 2024 semester, and who would be able to continue working through the summer/fall. Employees should be nutrition majors and/or minors in the Department of Nutritional Sciences or those in another degree program with an avid interest in food and cooking.

The job is flexible enough to accommodate the busy schedules of students; due to the nature of the study, hours will be variable week to week. It requires an extensive training program that consists of learning about diet assessment methodology, interview techniques, nutrition research software, and the research studies conducted in the PSDAC.

The job requirements are as follows:

  • Located in 108 Chandlee Lab

  • Must be a sophomore or junior

  • Must be willing to commit to 1 year of employment

  • Must be willing to work during summer 2024 and part of winter/spring break pf 24/25 academic year

  • Must be willing to work evenings and some weekends

  • Must be willing to work several 2 to 4 hour shifts per week (likely 6 - 12 hours total)

  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • FBI Criminal Background Check
