POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add an Inclusive Recreation Specialist to the team! This position will be based in the Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Services Division and will work to make all amenities and programs/activities inclusive for patrons of all abilities. Recreation program areas will include, but is not limited to adaptive sports, health/wellness, fitness, creative arts and summer camps. This position will be a key member of our staff in building rapport with our patrons and community members as well as promoting our services. In addition, the preferred candidate would have a willingness to pursue various certifications/credentials in areas such as inclusion, fitness, aquatics, adapted sports, program development, etc. This part-time position will work a flexible schedule of approximately 29 hours per week to include daytime hours, possible evenings and rotating weekends based upon business needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with therapeutic recreation populations, implementing modification requests, and understanding of Therapeutic Recreation processes/procedures.
Bachelor's or higher degree in Recreational Therapy / Therapeutic Recreation, or related field with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation.
Possess a CTRS credential from NCTRC and LRT licensure through NCBRTL
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate multiple inclusive programs each season
Market programs to community organizations, agencies, and support groups within the community
Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment as needed
Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
Respond to emergency situations as needed
Enforce County and Departmental rules and regulations
Collect fees and take registrations for recreational programs
Supervise volunteers
Handle inquiries and complaints from public
May require driving a county vehicle to transport participants or commute to a different location
Assist with special events
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required
Education: Bachelor's degree in Park & Recreation Administration, Health and Physical Education, or related field
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
Licenses/Certifications: Requires a North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; Requires the ability (within one year of hire) and maintain CPR/First Aid
Computer Skills: Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
