Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Office Assistant (19-hours/week) on the Dahlonega campus. The Part-Time Office Assistant III will serve as a critical member of the Multicultural Student Affairs team. This is a 12-month position and will be housed primarily on the Dahlonega Campus. The office assistant will be responsible for the administration of daily office activities of the unit. In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. § 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of Pcard renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Composes or creates advertisements, and newsletters, utilizing various software and manages the department's social media.

  • Interacts with faculty, staff and students to identify and address office issues and concerns. Ensures effective coverage for the office. May include supervision of office and student workers, and distribution of work assignments.

  • Support and facilitate MSA programs and activities.

  • Support and/or advise MSA student organizations as needed.

  • Oversees the inventory and purchasing of office supplies and materials for the department, and student clubs.

  • Perform other special projects and job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, systems and equipment.

  • Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc.

  • Requires a general working knowledge of the department's functional area.

  • Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Access, or other office software.

  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks, maintain records, gather and process information, work unsupervised, and maintain confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Three (3) years' experience in office/clerical work required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least (1) one year of active student club involvement or leadership preferred.

Proposed Salary

  • The minimum starting salary is $14.76/hour.
