JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Law seeks to hire a linguist, part-time (30 hours/week) to support our 221 international law students (45) countries for fall semester 2021.

The part-time linguist will work with Penn State Law's full-time linguist, helping international students with writing, conversational, and analytical skills. The position is open immediately and will continue through December 15, 2021.

The candidate should hold a master's degree in linguistics, though a Ph.D. is preferred, and have 4 or more years work experience working with ESL students. Experience with law students is especially valued.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Law GIP seeks an experienced, top credentialed, entrepreneurial individual to lead recruitment, program design, and institutional partnership development for the Latin America region. As a member of the GIP team and under the supervision of the assistant dean, the director will be responsible to develop and implement recruitment strategies to enroll qualified candidates in graduate programs, and in particular, the one-year Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program. Importantly, the director will identify emerging opportunities with prospective academic, professional, and not-for-profit Latin American partners and implement appropriate recruitment strategies. The director will work with the GIP team in all enrollment procedures, from application to admissions decisions to eventual enrollment. In addition, the director will explore in-country certificate program opportunities for Penn State Law to engage with law students, bar associations, and other entities and work with the assistant dean and faculty to implement the programs. The director will also work with GIP team members to identify enrolled students' needs and to deliver appropriate services. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, however, an advanced legal degree (J.D., LL.M., or Master of Laws degree) from the United States or abroad is preferred. A license to practice law in the United States or in the candidate's home country as well as fluency in English and Spanish (bi-lingual level desired) is strongly preferred. Candidates should have enrollment and student services in a U.S. law school. Although this position is based in University Park, the candidate should be willing to travel internationally, either independently or with a team member or faculty member; Demonstrated competency in law program design, implementation, and management is a must. The successful candidate will also be knowledgeable about student visa qualifications and procedures.
