Position Description

This position is located in the Davidson County Drug Court residential alcohol and drug treatment program. It is a Grant-Funded Non-Civil Service position.

The position will be responsible for providing individual and group mental health counseling in relation to substance abuse to program participants. This position will assist the team with diagnosis and referrals of the program participants. This position prepares clients for re-entry into the family and the community by assisting the clients with maintaining sobriety and a self-sufficient lifestyle.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 20 Hours per week.

The candidate must be alicensedclinician to be considered for this position.

Typical Duties

  • Responsible for the supervision of clients' treatment.

  • Provides individual and group counseling to clients.

  • Maintain client records and completes weekly progress notes.

  • Assist in the development and design of program objectives and content.

  • May participate in the dissemination of program information through designing pamphlets, attending conferences, seminars, meetings, etc.

  • Maintain community contact with appropriate agencies for additional and supplemental services and referrals.

  • May recommend the placement of clients in specialized programs as needed.

  • Testify in court on cases as required.

  • Provides participants progress to the drug court judge

  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must belicensedin the Mental Health or related field, such as LPC, LCSW or LMSW.

  • Must have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology or a related field froman accredited college or university.

  • Must have experience working in the mental health field as a counselor.

  • Must have a valid Tennessee Driver License.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with Substance Abuse Disorders

  • Experience with Personality Disorders.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Working knowledge of group dynamics, disease concept of addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention.

  • Ability to work within a team.

This is a part-time grant-funded position working in a residential setting. This position is in a 24/7 facility. Candidate must be able to work various shifts as needed. Typical Duties * Enforce facility rules and policies to maintain order during the shift. * Accurately account for thelocation of each client by conducting and documenting facility checks. * Transport or assist with the transportation of clients. * Collect urine samples from the residents. * May assist in giving first aid to clients and assist with medication. * Maintain appropriate records. * Attend meetings and workshops as needed. * Read shift reports and incident reports within the first (30) minutes of each shift. * Secure facility keys in the designated area at all times. * Perform/assist with random and scheduled searches of clients and areas. * Related duties as required.
