Job Summary:

We provide nutritious meals and fun activities for older adults in Evanston and surrounding communities Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm. Levy Senior Center is currently hiring a Kitchen Rec Aide. The Kitchen Aide is responsible for food preparation and delivery, maintaining clean and sanitary areas of food service, working with volunteers, and serving meals to participants.

Function:

Under the general direction and supervision of the Levy Center Program Coordinator, the Kitchen Aide is responsible for serving lunch and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen at the Levy Senior Center daily.

Supervision:

The Program Coordinator will supervise and coordinate all food services along with coffee service Monday- Friday.

Task Statements:

• Receive daily lunch deliveries and document food and beverage temperatures upon receipt.

• Daily preparation of catered lunches for service.

• Serve coffee and lunch during specified hours on weekdays, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

• Arrange a coffee station and cart for the following day.

• Coordinate with volunteers to ensure cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas. ? Manage inventory and storage of kitchen supplies, including ingredients, utensils, and cleaning materials, and communicate needs to the program coordinator. ? Clean kitchen thoroughly after food service, including operation of dishwashing machines and hand washing of equipment.

• Handle loading, operation, and unloading of dishwashing machines, as well as hand washing of food preparation and serving equipment.

• Store cleaned dishes and utensils appropriately and maintain the cleanliness of storage areas.

• Dispose of trash and maintain the cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas. ? Receive and store food deliveries, as well as assist in loading food trays for delivery.

• Assist in maintaining inventory control and cleaning storage areas. ? Daily washing of coffee pots and food utility carts.

• Prepare silverware for the following day's service.

• Weekly cleaning of refrigerators, milk coolers, and freezers.

• Arrange the lobby area after lunch, including wiping tables and arranging chairs. ? Dispose of leftover food at the end of each day.

• Assist with special event food service when required.

• Monitor and record daily temperatures of food, freezer, refrigerator, and milk cooler.

• Complete daily cleaning task worksheet.

• Operate the oven, dishwasher, and food warmers as needed.

• Clean the ice maker chest as necessary.

• Immediately report any accidents, incidents, or injuries to the supervisor. ? Ability to stand for extended periods and lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds. ? Maintain valid food handler certification.

• Preferably hold CPR, AED, and First-Aid certification.

• Preferably hold a Certified Food Protection Manager certification.

Special Events:

Under the supervision of the Levy Center Program Coordinator, perform duties as assigned.

Hours per week:

15 hours weekly; weekdays, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
