Job Description

As a Part-Time Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in the well-being of our patients at both our hospital and boarding facility. Your responsibilities will include providing exceptional care through feeding, medicating, and cleaning, as well as ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all animals in our care. Key duties include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining the facility

  • Laundering bedding and towels

  • Bathing and exercising dogs

  • Assisting with feeding and medication administration

  • Supporting post-operative care for patients

  • Helping veterinarians and technicians with animal restraint and examinations

  • Maintaining accurate records of medications, special diets, and observations regarding behavior and health

Additionally, you may receive training in cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cleaning and disinfecting protocols

  • Understanding of proper animal restraint techniques

  • Skillful and efficient use of cleaning materials and equipment

  • Physical capability to perform moderately heavy labor (e.g., handling large dogs, bags of litter, pet food)

  • Compassionate and patient demeanor when caring for sick or frightened animals

  • Willingness to learn how to administer medications and identify abnormal conditions

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively

  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues

Additional Information

Working Hours: part-time, no more than 15 hours per week
