Position Description:

• At least three (3) years professional experience in all elements of residential carpentry.

• State of Oklahoma General Contractors License preferred

• Knowledge of and the ability to teach students in job site safety, construction math, print reading, tools and materials, rough carpentry, exterior finish carpentry, and interior finish carpentry

• Comfortable learning and using computer technology in the classroom

• Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry industry

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in training and teaching others

• The work schedule for this position requires flexibility to work two nights per week, 6 - 10pm, as scheduled throughout the spring, summer and fall semesters

Essential Job Functions for all ACD Instructors:

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience in the appropriate subject matter.

• Instruct students in competency-based program curriculum using current instructional strategies appropriate to the subject matter to assure highest quality classroom instruction.

• Effectively manage the classroom to create an optimal learning environment.

• Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress and grades as required by district policy and certification/regulatory agencies.

• Ensure syllabus, supply list and lesson plans are current prior to each class taught.

• Demonstrate effective people skills, communication skills and professionalism (i.e. - prepared, reliable, responsible, punctual, etc.)

• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of Tulsa Tech's ACD program

• Participate in professional development opportunities as required by the ACD department.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associates degree in construction management preferred

Salary Schedule:

Standard rate schedule for non-regular (temporary, adjunct, substitute) and regular part-time employees

Hiring Range:

$35 per hour
