Niagara County Community College has a need for a part time Instructor to teach various courses in the Horticulture/Cannabis program.
Courses may include the following:
Cannabis: Society, Policy, and Compliance
Cannabis Pest Management
Cannabis Production
Biology of Cannabis
Medical Applications of Cannabis
Cannabis Products and Technologies
Intro to Biochemistry of Cannabis
Classes are held on the NCCC Sanborn campus.
Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $884 per lecture hour/$792 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, Niagara County Community College will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Typical Work Activities
Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (face-to-face, face-to-face with Zoom option, hyflex, hybrid, blended, or online)
Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate)
Track attendance
Complete census reports
Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester
Report grades at the conclusion of the semester
Additional duties and responsibilities will be reviewed during interview.
Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of Associate of Applied Science degree in Horticulture or related field, or sufficient horticulture/cannabis industry work experience to include experience in public speaking, training, and/or management-level positions.
Must be proficient in MS Office or similar for the development of course materials.
Desirable Qualifications
Industry certifications.
A background in alternative course delivery models and instructional experience at a community/technical college or four-year college.
Familiarity with using Zoom.
Experience with horticulture/cannabis industry software
