Part-Time Heavy Equipment Operator

Nash Community College Continuing Education is accepting applications for the Heavy Equipment Operator Instructor position. Responsibilities include teaching heavy equipment operator courses during the day, evening, or weekends.

Applicants should have teaching and/or supervisory experience (working with adult learners). The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and create a student-oriented learning environment. Applicants must possess a commitment to quality teaching and student achievement. Instructional workload will be based on demand in surrounding communities serviced by the

College.

Primary duties are to coordinate, administer, manage, and deliver non-credit programs

Defines learning objectives, prepares, and teaches classes, creates a student-oriented learning

environment, and evaluates student learning in assigned courses

Engages in curriculum and course development

Serves as academic advisor

Must be available to teach day, evenings, weekends, and on and off-campus classes in person and online

Five years of occupational experience as a heavy equipment operator operating modern heavy

equipment used in the construction industry or five years working as a Heavy Equipment trainer or a combination of both

Combination of education and industry credentials to demonstrate content expertise

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Commitment to Nash Community College philosophy and overall student success

Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and work independently

Available to attend the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) training and earn credentials

Must be able to successfully complete background check

Other duties as assigned.

NCCER qualified instructor

Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college

Experience Moodle or a similar learning management system

Associates degree

Experience preparing students for success on credentialing exams

Teaching and/or supervisory experience.

CDL license.

Physical demands applicants must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
