Job Title: D21 Part-Time Front of the House Supervisor

Reports Directly To: Culinary Arts Program Director

Job Group: Hourly

Hourly Wage: $16-$18 per hour DOE

Position Closing Date: Open Until Filled

Primary Function of Position:

The front of the house supervisor is responsible for providing excellent customer service in District 21, our full-service teaching restaurant. This individual will provide leadership and supervision to front of the house staff to include servers and hosts.

Essential Job Functions:

Customer Service:

  • Models, trains, and inspires staff to uphold standard steps of service.

  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts.

  • Utilizes and maintains the online reservation system and customer databases.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests' instructors and students.

  • Resolves any food quality and service complaints.

Operations:

  • Creates and implements all opening and closing duties.

  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

  • Helps to maintain and update the POS system.

  • Responsible for all scheduling of front of the house staff.

  • Responsible for maintaining proper levels of front of the house food and non-food inventory.

Clerical Duties:

  • Responsible for sharing inventory clerical duties to include taking physical monthly inventory, reconciling receiving and inventory documentation, and reconciling monthly inventory reports.

  • Maintains current menus, promotions, special events, and customer email lists.

  • Responsible for reconciling all transactions and deposits daily using the daily cash drawer reconciliation form and submitting nightly to cashier.

  • Performs other clerical duties and tasks as assigned.

Other:

  • Attends and participates in staff development activities to include computer training and other school or departmental training initiatives.

  • Responsible for the general cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned work area(s) and assists in the general cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen.

  • Ability to be present on the job as described under working conditions and contract details.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience directly related to front of house operations in a restaurant, hotel, country club or other hospitality outlet.

  • Associates degree in culinary arts is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management highly desirable.

  • Experience with BePoz and Open Table is preferred.

  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized and have a desire to be a team member.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.

Working Conditions:

Long periods of standing. Ability to lift 20 pounds (50 pounds with assistance). Low-level machine noise is encountered the majority of every day. Works with sharp knives, hot stoves, and standard restaurant equipment. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.

Organizational Relationship:

Part-time, personnel position reports directly to Culinary Arts Program Director who is responsible for supervision.

Contract Details:

Twelve-month contract subject to annual renewal. Working Tuesday - Friday 3:00-10:00 pm, 20-29 hours per week not to exceed 29 hours. At the end of July/first of August, when evening classes are not in session for D21 Restaurant instruction, other duties may be assigned to include daytime working hours opportunity.
