GEO Next Generation High School - Indianapolis is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins 21st Century Charter at Gary, Gary Middle College East and Gary Middle College West in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Indiana. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school that will begin with 9th grade and add a grade each year over the subsequent three years. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model.

Job Summary:

The Food Service Coordinator will act as the primary contact between our school and the Food Service Management Company (FSMC). This role is mandated by the State of Indiana Department of Education to ensure compliance with the Child Nutrition Department's guidelines and USDA hiring standards and annual training requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison (30%): Serve as the main point of contact between the school and the FSMC. Communicate the school's needs and concerns to the FSMC and relay information from the FSMC to the school.

  • Compliance (25%): Monitor the FSMC's activities to ensure they comply with the guidelines set by the Child Nutrition Department of the State of Indiana Department of Education and USDA hiring standards and annual training requirements.

  • Reporting (20%): Prepare and submit necessary reports to the state and school administration regarding the food service program.

  • Coordination (25%): Coordinate with the FSMC to ensure the food service program runs smoothly and efficiently. Regularly provide on-site assistance and monitoring to ensure food safety, meal pattern, and meal count documentation are being maintained.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups including school staff, students, parents, and outside vendors.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in using technology, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel) is required. The candidate must be able to use these tools effectively from day one for tasks such as data entry, communication, and report generation.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a liaison, coordinator, or administrative role, preferably within a school or similar setting.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the guidelines set by the Child Nutrition Department of the State of Indiana Department of Education and USDA to meet hiring standards and complete annual training requirements. Understanding food service operations is beneficial, but direct involvement in food preparation or service is not required.

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent. A degree in a related field such as education, business, or public health is preferred.
