The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University seeks a part-time instructor to teach GEO 326, The Geography of Climate and Weather, as an online synchronous/asynchronous course through the College of Professional Studies during the Fall 2024 Eight Week Session, August 26- October 17, 2024 (3 credits).
Course Description: This class will investigate how Earth balances its energy, momentum, and mass by transporting them all over the world.
We will study these transports in meridional, zonal and vertical aspects. Then we will evaluate the evidence of climate change, organize the drivers of climate change, explore climate modeling, and discuss the impacts of climate change. Note: federal or international polices will NOT be covered in this class.
Qualifications
ABD or higher in Geography, with prior university teaching experience.
Job Specific Qualifications Responsibilities
Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
Submitting final grades according to University regulations.
Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
