Part-Time Faculty: PSY 400 Psychology Of Film

The Psychology Department is seeking a part-time instructor to teach PSY 400 Psychology of Film during the Fall 2024 semester. Three credit hours.

Course Description: Psychology of Film provides broad coverage on the relationship between film making and theories on psychological processes of cognition. This course will specifically focus on how various film-making techniques are incorporated in film and television to impact the viewer's experience, emotions, perspectives, and thought processes.

MS degree in Psychology or related field. Ph.D. preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

• Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

• Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments.

• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of minimum of two hours per week.

• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.

• Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.

• Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.

• Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations.

• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.

• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

• Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors.
