Faculty will teach college-level courses to professional technical students and transfer students in the Business Administration program. We require the availability to teach courses in-person on the college campus. Courses will likely be:
Introduction to Business
Business Mathematics
Retail Buying and Management
Retail Marketing
Introduction to e-Business
Human Relations in Business
Principles of Management
Introduction to International Business
Introduction to Business
Human Resources Management
Entrepreneurship
Sustainable Business
Faculty also contribute to the department's efforts to improve student retention and success. Opportunities are available for teaching in learning communities, online, and in other non-traditional learning environments. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise students, assist with assessment of current instructional methods, develop programs and curricula, and participate in Shoreline governance, department, division and campus-related professional activities.REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Business Administration or related field
Three (3) or more years of experience in the specific area of the assigned courses
Experience teaching college, pre-college, or adults online and in-person
Experience with Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technology
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) as they apply to teaching, student support, and curriculum development
Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of Business Administration
Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework online and in-person/live classroom presentation.
Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and belonging
Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities
Developing or guiding the development of course outcomes, creation of syllabi, and selection of course resources for existing and new courses
Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Designing coursework and pathways which incorporate and promote educational and economic justice, particularly for students who have been historically marginalized or minoritized
Participation in Career and Technical Student Organization or student club/activity
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online instruction) operations, with the option for some assignments to completed in a fully online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment. This position requires in-person instruction.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:
This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline Community College Federation of Teachers. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
